Corruption has its Intangible roots People talk of tackling/fighting corruption, only to find themselves engulfed in it that it has become an inevitable part of the system. Media always talk about corruption being so rampant in the society that people always give it positive thumbs up. This is a small, stupid incident with which I have to live up with during the last four years my college life. During my college, there was a provision for students belonging to SC, ST, OBC to avail a scholarship. The scholarship can go as high as Rs.350000/- per annum while the fee for a year was variable from 38000 to 43000. The only eligibility for the scholarship was that the student should belong to an SC ,ST, OBC( non creamy layer) with an annual family income as less as 50000. There were around 12-13 friends of mine who were all lined up for the scholarship. These friends of mine were the party throwers, lavish expenders of our class who used to show off their latest gadgets. Though the p...
India against corruption “Practise what preach”, this is an ideology which is taught to us from our childhood. But it seems like an outdated concept in this real world. Our politicians preach living a simple life while driving in a SUV and that too on public expense; our cricketers preach playing fair, while the winners fall to the bottom of fair play table. Our actors preach, “No to drugs” while Caught in camera in inebriated state. Media preaches fair jurisdiction and jurisdiction for all while carrying out “incriminate the accused campaign” and the list goes on. But this is not about the actors, politicians, cricketers, media; it is about the common man. This is about an incident which I came across in a small town in M.P, last year. During the month of April 2011,there was a large hue and cry regarding the anticorruption campaign and the Lokpal bill. The rage reached to the level of a revolution, where the whole country seems to be united under one agenda. Although the m...
The great Indian political league Politics is one dimension of an ordinary Indian which is the most insensitive one. Whether it is attack on the country or a defeat in the cricket field, we find politics in everything, every sphere. From Mamta di taking political mileage of KKR’s victory in IPL and stealing the limelight turning it into a subject of Bengal’s pride as opposed to that of a club’s which doesn’t have anything to do with Bengal. Also there has been a case of taking advantage of Dr. Ambedkar’s cartoon row. Of all the recent political activities, one which baffled me the most is the controversy around Shankar’s Dr. Ambedkar Cartoon. When we look at the whole development, we find it rather ridiculous. The cartoon if looked from the prospect of its timing, it was a very appropriate one, for it showed Dr. Ambedkar riding a snail named “Constitution” which symbolises its slow pace. Baba sahib had a whip in his hand that shows Ambedkar want to steer the process. Then ...
The annoying experience at the hospital         This was a hell bit of experience for me. Perhaps this incident was the one which inspired/persuaded me to write my experiences of insensitivity. This is a 6 months old incidence. My brother was feeling ill, with temperature, flu, headache and all sorts of seasonal problems, also backache and pain in limbs, there were signs of dengue or chickengunia. The pain was so intense that he was neither able to sit upright nor walk. I took an appointment of a renowned doctor in a renowned hospital and went up there. As we moved in, we found the hospital to be overcrowded like a market place. Almost every doctor had a waiting of 20-25 patients. I seated my brother at one of the waiting areas and reported at the reception. The receptionist gave us the number 4 , I was happy that atleast my brother won’t have to wait for long and won’t have to undergo the pain for a long duration. After waiting for about 40 m...
The Insensitive Indian Shocked!/Amazed?.....by the title. Perhaps you should not. The reason I am saying this is because in everyday life we may come across various instances where we may find several annoying fellowmen whom we find very hard to resist, ignore them and babble out few cuss words and move on. More importantly we spell out some famous one liner like,” this is why our condition is so pathetic”, “nobody can reform this country”, and so on….. But the situation changes as soon as we are on the receiving end. Let us take an instance for example. Shobha, a lady from Mumbai, is travelling with her family in an unreserved/ general compartment in a train as she was not able to get a reservation. Her family comprises her husband Mr. Mehta and her 8 year old daughter Reeni. She took the train from Mumbai and captured a full lower berth with standard occupancy of four. As the rush was less, they travelled very comfortably for about four stoppages, then suddenly Shobha re...
